Talya went to a private high school were she attained her diploma and went on to pursue her studies. She subsequently went to Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Mass Communication/Media Studies – Broadcast Journalism.

Prior to FOX31, she worked for ABC 8NEWS WRIC as an anchor / reporter. she worked at ABC for a span of 4 years before relocating to her new home in Denver. In addition she worked for WCAV-TV back in 2013 for a period of 4 years and 1month. During her tenure in WCAV-TV she started of as a Master Control Operator for a period of 1 year and later on transitioning to a Morning Anchor/reporter for a period of 3 years.
She also worked for Monticello Media as an Anchor and a Producer for WCHV 107.5FM/1260AM and Hot 101.9 for a period of 5 years and 3 months. Talya was a casting associate with Bray entertainment in the Greater New York City Area. She worked for Essence Magazine as an Essence Music Festival Intern in 2012 for just a month. Prior to that she was a Patient Service Representative/ Medical Records Clerk at VCU Health system since June 2009 to March 2012. Her career started off at Radio Disney as a Promotion Assistant for a period of 6 months since April 2008 – September 2008.
